I was flying number three in Postgate Red flight (Lts. Truluck, Marcotte, Robey, Stamps). As we r/v'd with the bombers about ten Me 109's and Fw 190's were just starting to attack the bombers from the right side which we were protecting. Lt. Truluck and his wing man attacked a Me 109 . I saw another on my right and started down. He was only a few hundred feet below me. As I started down he rolled to the deck. I pulled up and saw another Me 109 in a turning circle with a yellow nose P-47. I dropped down on his tail and rolled over to hit the deck. I gave it full throttle and was overtaking him too fast, so I cut the throttle and slipped it. I was underneath him about ten feet and too close to pull my sight on him without hitting him with my prop. I fired my guns and slowed down enough to get in trail. I opened fire at about 30 feet and was getting strikes on his wings. I then kicked rudder and knocked his radiator off. I hit his gas tank and engine and he started to smoke severely. I shot some more and he was on fired, headed straight down. I ob served an English insignia on his fuselage with a cross painted on top of it. I claim one Me 109 d estroyed . ARCHIE

Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
