e. 109 – D estroyed one Me. 109 I . I was leading Cement Blue Flight and had just made R/V with the bombers when we saw a large formation of about 100 plus E/A heading for the bombers. Part of the squadron went for the main bunch , but I saw three slightly higher than I was, so I climbed after them in a Lufberry . I was out-turning and out-climbing them up to 31,000 ft. I fired at the last man and saw a strike on his canopy. The ship rolled over and went straight down, but I am claiming this as damaged pending assessment of film. I continued turning with the other two until the last man broke awat to the left and I followed him down to 12,000 ft. He finally leveled out, and I got in a good burst with strikes at the wing roots. He broke hard to the left and then blew up. The pilot was thrown out and his chute opened. I claim this as a destroyed. P-51 GQ-P observed the encounter. I claim o ne M

Historical Artifacts
We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 8th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands. We accept electronic/scans or originals of pictures and paper records. A General Order could be an award document that contains information on many servicemen. Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
