G. FW 190

H. One FW 190 Destroyed

I. Narrative: I was flying Red 1 in Shirtblue squadron. At about 25,000 feet after having been with the bombers for about ten minutes I saw two 190's at 3 o'clock to the bombers and below at 15,000 feet. Lt. Horter bounced one of them and I took the other. I attacked from 4 o'clock to him and closed to about 400 yards for my first burst. I opened fire again at about 300 yards, closing to 75 yards, observing many strikes and large and small pieces coming off the e/a. My whole a/c was covered with oil, and my NO. 2 man's a/c was hit by pieces of the e/a in the cowling and prop. The a/c was smoking very badly. Just as I pulled away his whole left wing flew off and he went from 10,000 feet. When I last saw the 190 he was close to the ground going almost straight for the earth. I had it". I claim One FW 190 Destroyed.

We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 8th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands.
