I. I was leading Blue Section at 27,000 feet above and at 8 o'clock to the Forte, Northwest of Paris. I sighted a FW 190 approaching the Forts from the rear at about 2000 yards. I immediately dove to the c/a followed by my wing man Lt. Pink. I closed rapidly and started firing at about 200 yards with approximately 30° declination. I continued firing and closing to 100 yards and saw strikes on c/a the enemy flew off. As I could no longer hold de- flection, I broke off and Lt. Pink attacked c/a. After this I became separated from my wing man and after looking around to get my bearings saw a FW 190 turning and coming in from 10 o'clock. I op- ened fire at 250 yards and continued firing until c/a passed across in front socing strikes on trailing edge of starboard wing. Soon after this I observed a FW 190 approaching Forts from 9 o'clock. I went into a shallow dive and closed to 200 yards nearly line astern and opened fire. I closed to 75 yards and saw strikes and pieces fly from c/a. E/A rolled over and went into a spiral dive from about a thousand feet, then entered a vi- olent spin in which large pieces flow off. E/A gradually came out of spin and went into a vertical dive and crashed in a ball of flame in a large square of houses in the northern suburbs of Paris. This was soon by F/O Mead. I claim 1 FW 190 as destroyed and one FW 190 as damaged.
