H. ENEMY CASUALTIES (Pilot's claim): One (1) M E 109 destroyed .
I. ACCOUNT OF COMBAT (In narrative form stressing ours and enemy's tactics). Just after rendezvousing with the bombers our flight started to turn to starboard to what looked like a dog fight. We flew the area for a few minutes and saw a group of approximately fifteen enemy aircraft . I saw one split- ess from the tail of the formation and I started to chase him. He went into a tight spiral and I tried several large deflection shots, but missed. He also tried several rolls and finally went into a vertical dive. When I closed to a close range—approximately 100 yards—I fired a short burst and saw strikes in the right wing tip. Then I moved over slightly, fired another burst, and saw strikes around the cockpit. Almost immediately he jettisoned his canopy. I pulled to one side and started a pull-out. As I pulled up I looked back and saw the enemy aircraft h it the ground and blow up, and the pilot in a white parachute. I claim one (1) Me 109 destroyed. J. AMMUNITION EXPENDED: 685 rounds API.

Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
