McMahan i . "I was leading the second element of Yellow Flight and we went down on some e/a called in by Blue Leader. When we got down below the cloud layer I saw Blue Leader and his wing man in a Lufberry with an Me 109. I fired at the e/a but not effectively so gave Capt. Moseley cover since he did not appear to be in difficulty. I then saw a P-47 (Lt. McMahan) chasing another Me 109 at tree-top height and went over to help him. As I did so the e/a broke into me and I fired a short burst from 500 yds. As I pulled up and made a 180 o , the Jerry continued his turn and I fired again from several hundred yards, and got in some good, heavy deflection shots. Lt. McMahan was also hitting the Jerry very well. The pilot jettisoned his canopy but did not get out before the e/a crashed. I claim One Me 109 Destroyed , sharing it with Lt. McMahan . "
