Combat 5 August 1944 336 Fighter Squadron 1245 Hours Gardelegen 3/10 Cloud Me109 1 Me109 Destroyed Narrative: I was flying Green 4 in Becky Squadron at 18,000 feet . Capt. Glass reported a bogey above. It was a Me109 at 21,000 feet. I climbed to 27,000 feet and caught him. He did two snap rolls and spiralled down to the left. At 10,000 feet we were indicating 600 mph. On the pull out I blacked out but recovered still behind him. On the deck indicating 350 mph. I fired a 30 degree deflection shot and thanks to the K-14 sight, hit him in the right wing. I tried to hit his belly tank but could not. On two more passes of 30 degrees deflection or more, I hit him in the engine and cock pit. From 20 feet he turned on his side and went into the trees. I claim 1 Me109 Destroyed

Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
