FREDERICK LEFEBRE

353rd Fighter Group 12/22/1943

A. 22 December, 1943 B. 351st Fighter Squadron C. 1343 hours D. Heerde Area (approximate because of overcast) E. Complete overcast F. ME 109 G. One ME 109 destroyed I was leading Roughman Blue Flight. At 29,000 feet 10 plus ME 109s approached head on and passed to our right. I turned right into them. They broke down, but the first two pulled back up to the left. I closed to about 300 yards behind the second one and gave him a short burst from about 15 degrees astern. He snapped violently to the right, as I saw strikes on left wing. I gave another short burst as he rolled to the inverted position, and saw many strikes on left wing root and fuselage and engine cowling. An instant later, he burst into flames and trailed smoke as he disappeared into clouds. I saw no parachute. When I last saw the ship it appeared to be out of control. FREDERICK H. LEFEBRE, Captain, Air Corps.

Special Orders may contain transfers or other information.
