ENCOUNTER REPORT Combat 10 April 1944 328 th F /S 0920 Dormans Visibility unlimited, broken clouds at 500 ft FW 190 1 FW 190 destroyed

Narrative: I was flying White 3. We were flying about 25,000 ft giving support to a box of bombers when we saw several FW 190s attacking and breaking down. I saw one P-47 following an FW 190 down and thought it was White 4 so I went down to cover him. About then 2 FW 190s dived down to attack the P-47 so I tried to intercept them. They broke away without firing when they saw me coming. I followed them down and started firing at about 600 yds. and saw a few strikes. When I was about 400 yds. I got a few more strikes and his right landing gear came down. The pilot then bailed out and the e/a went on and crashed into a little patch of woods. I came back up and joined up with a flight of P-51s and returned to base without further incident. I claim 1 FW 190 destroyed .
