334 Fighter Squadron 1520 hours Soissons- Cambrai area Low alright haze. Visibility good. FW 190 One (1) FW 190 Destroyed I was flying White 3 position when Pectin Squadron bounced 12 plus FW 190s flying at 8,000 feet. Overshooting the bo x of FWs, I skidded to the starboard and made my attack from 3 o'clock to the FW formation. One FW broke formation, diving and turning the same direction as

I. Pulling about one ring deflection I observed only one strike and E/A straightened his dive and continued downward. I fired several more bursts from 800 to 1,000 yards observing no strikes. E/A continued diving steeply until I was forced to pull up at about 500 feet to keep from going into the deck. The last I saw was a high column of smoke where the FW had crashed. Ammunition G.E. Montgomery 717 rounds 2 nd Lt., Air Corps. I was flying No. 2 to White 3 and followed him down on the bounce. I saw White 3 firing at FW 190 that pulled out of his formation and as White 3 pulled out and of his dive the FW 190 rolled three-quarters of the way on his back at 300 feet with his nose 45ยบ down and I.A.S. approximately 450 m.p.h. I pulled out of dive at 600 feet doing 550 I.A.S. and was unable to see the E/A crash. Robert L. Hills F/O Air Corps.

Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
