B. 27 September, 1943

C. 351st Fighter Squadron

D. 1015 hours

E. Southwest of Emden

F. 8/10 Cirrus at 28,000 feet.

G. ME 109

H. One ME 109 destroyed

I. I was flying #3 position in Captain Kinkades flight. I became separated from him because of the cloud formation. I saw one ME 109 attacking a P-47 below me. The ME 109 pulled up in front of me, at which time I got on his tail. When he leveled out I closed to approximately 300 yards, and almost dead astern. He apparently did not seem me. I fired a 3 second burst and saw pieces fly off the E/A. He went into a slight climb, gently rolling off on his left wing. I then saw fire covering the cockpit. He went into a steep dive and disappeared into the clouds, trailing black smoke. I claim one destroyed.

We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 8th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands.
