Christensen called on the R/T and said he was chasing 3 Fw 190 's and one was chasing him. He was wrong--there were two e/a on his tail. I dropped behind the second one, fired at 250 yds. and saw many hits all along the wings and fuselage. The Fw ran through a tree, pulled up a little and I got in some more good hits at close range. Christensen called, I took Red Flight down to help him. I got on the second e/a and was closing rapidly when Lt. Pierce, who did not see me, got between us and opened fire. He did some beautiful gunnery and the e/a pulled up, did a half-spin and crashed in a small town ."

We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 8th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands. We accept electronic/scans or originals of pictures and paper records. A General Order could be an award document that contains information on many servicemen. Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
