I was flying Blue 2 at 19,000 feet when we saw 40 plus 190’s, at 9 o’clock, 5 miles away, flying 180° to us. We made a left turn and came out of the sun right in on their tails. At 800 yards E/A dropped their tanks and opened throttle. Blue 1 chased one and I tailed another. I fired a 2 second burst dead astern at 350 yards. Saw hits on tail, wings and canopy. The right horizontal stabilizer and canopy flew off. Gave him several long steady bursts as he went into a gentle climbing right turn, from 200 yards. He then rolled over to the right and went straight into the ground.
I then made a shallow dive to 12,000 feet and again landed dead astern, 400 yards, to another 190 which appeared to be stooging along. He started a steep zoom climb at which time I let him have a 4 second burst. I observed several strikes on both wing roots. He split S’d and dived away. I lost him in this maneuver.
I claim 1 FW 190 Destroyed and 1 Fw 190 Damaged

COMFIRMATION OF CLAIMS
Flying Blue 4 I saw Lt. Price get strikes on the wings and canopy of this 190. Several pieces flew off the E/A before it rolled over and spiraled down out of control into the clouds at 6,000 feet. I substantiate his claim of a 190 destroyed.
