Intelligence Combat Report Reference F.C.F.C. NC. 313
Combat.
25 April 1944
83rd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group.
0915 hours.
20 miles south of Verdun.
3-4/10 cumulus at 2,000 feet with tops at 5,000. 3/10 cirrus at 25,000 feet, good visibility.
FW 190.
Destroyed.
I was flying White two, when my flight leader sighted four s/e e/a. We dived from 20,000 feet with after them and they split and went down to the deck. We followed one and the flight leader fired at him. We pulled up and started down to make another pass at him. I saw another plane close close by, going the same direction, so I followed him and closed to about 300 yards and recognised it as an FW 190. I fired a burst of about three seconds about 20 degrees deflection. The pilot began to maneuver the plane thru turns, climbs and dives, during which I closed to approximately two hundred yards and fired approximately three more two seconds bursts. The pilot climbed to approximately 2,000 feet and bailed out. His chute opened and he was floating down, as the plane crashed.

Supporting Statement of Claim:
At approximately 2,000 feet I observed Lt. Allstaedt open fire on a FW-190. Although I saw no strikes, the enemy pilot bailed out and the a/c crashed and exploded.
