Hazy g . Single Engine Fighter h . One FW-190 d estroyed i . I was flying Keyworth Blue 3. I had covered an attack by Captain Gerald Johnson on an FW- 190 and we were going to rejoin at 7 o'clock to the bombers. There was a bomber straggler a mile behind the main formation in the vicinity of Lingen . I saw a P-47 smoking and I was watching both it and the straggler. I then saw an FW-190 coming up in front of the bomber behind the disabled P-47. There were two other P -47's up above the disabled P-47 but ahead of the FW-190. The FW-190 saw me and when he came directly under me about 3,000 feet below at 20,000 feet he turned in the same direction. I rolled over dived up side down and rolled out on his tail. He dived straight down and I opened on him at 500 yards. I hit him the first burst. His canopy flew to pieces smoke and flame came from him to large bunches. Then he rolled over and went straight into the ground from 11,000 feet. I didn't see the pilot bail out. I claim o ne FW-190 d estroyed .

We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 8th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands.
