G . FW - 190 H . 1 FW - 190 destroyed I . I was flying white 2 in Hubbard Squadron at 18,000 ft near the vicinity of Hardenburg over Vecht Canal in support of B-17 ' s on withdrawal. White leader split-S down on a FW-190 that had crossed our course about 4,000 ft below us. I followed my leader down and saw him getting hits on wing roots, fuselage and cockpit on E/A . Seeing another FW-190 at 8 o'clock flying at a right angle to us about 1500 ft below, I broke away from my leader after clearing my tail, attacked this E/A from 10 degrees astern at 12,000 ft. I opened fire at 250 yds with a short burst and observed right wheel to drop. E/A rolled over and split-S down, and I followed. E/A went into a tight spiral and I was unable to get him in my sights, so I pulled up at 3,000 ft and E/A leveled off at about 1,000 ft. I again attacked from astern, but before I came into range he rolled over going straight down, and crashed. E/A exploded. I claim one FW - 190 destroyed.

We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 8th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands. Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history!
